Year 2008 is never going great for me. That’s ok. Who is in hurry to see everything going well? Btw, as per the Astrology, 2008 is not supposed to be good for everyone. I had really good moments in my life and I could enjoy them to the best just because I had bad memories as well to compare. Anyway, this is not the subject of this discussion.
All said and done but this year will find its place in my ‘Hard Disk’ memory area, which will last forever. It was the year not to recall (or i say load in my memory) anytime in future till i found something interesting. This would be the one of the best year for me, when I happened to meet and/or talk with lot of my old buddies or Colleagues. These are those old friends, pals and colleagues, who had lost touch with me somehow. It is just a matter of coincidence or some magic in this year that those friends (lying in some special area in my head but not getting hits regularly) have started to remember me and we started recalling old days together. Somewhat credit goes to networking tools/sites like Yahoo chat and LinkedIn, for all this to happen. Still there is something in this year, which is causing all this nice and surprising activity.
Based on my experience, one makes friends only in childhood, college time or start of career. As one goes along, you will have colleagues, neighbors but not friend. I had good friends but started losing touch with them one by one. It was mainly because of distance and one’s priority on their career.
It started with Hitesh. Hitesh is the oldest among active friend circle. We know each other for last 17 years but we have not met for last 5-6 years for reasons, not controllable by anyone. I know him since we passed matriculation/10th. He and his family gave nice surprise by coming to Bangalore ealier this year. It was really nice feeling after meeting him after a long time. I am hoping that he will finally settle in Bangalore and it will happen soon.
It was Deepak Kumar next. I could not see him for last 8 years because he was in NCR region. He is one of my good friends since Roorkee days. Surprisingly he got transferred to Bangalore for short term and he made sure that there is always few pingbacks after every couple of weeks. This made sure that I have to be in constant touch with him and Akash deep, another trusted friend from Roorkee days. Akash is settled in Bangalore but we have started meeting more often in this year. Good going till date. Thanks to Akash and Deepak, I got in to Blogging world. They had shown very keen interests in my earlier written article of Roorkee days. This made sure that i go back to one of my hobby after 10 years.
Anuj Joshi was the next. He was in Chennai and we are in touch with each other but only on phone. Good that he got transferred to Bangalore. He and his family came to my home and vice versa. I can say that now I have lots of friends in Bangalore.
Amit and Ajay were next surprise for me. Amit Srivastava happened to be in Bangalore for his short vocational training. Amit has a special place because he was flat mate in Chennai, joined L&T with me and then we worked for Infosys in Chennai. We saw each other 7 years back and then again in 2008. I am hoping that we would be meeting again shortly with his family.
Ajay is the only one, who opted for different profession than us. He became Doctor and part of Indian Air Force now. He is in Bangalore for short vocational training. We met one and would be meeting more often in next few months.
Apart from all of these friends, I happened to get chance to talk/chat/mail to few more old chaps from Roorkee. I am wishing that we would meet shortly. I will disclose names in my next post when we find time and common place to meet.
Did Like:
- It was good to see my name on your blog, of course
- Seeking good things and highlighting them among bad things which is happening this year.
Did not like :
..I am sure you would come across many interesting people who will become close buddy for you. I agree that school/college friend are special friends as you grow with them and explore life with them.
- Definition of friend. You have only lived one third of your life (my wishes to live longer than 3* your current age
- Your calculation. We know each other for atleast 15 years and not 13
