Comparison chart – Suzuki Ritz vs. Hyundai i20 vs. Honda Jazz

Indian market is suddenly loaded with new car launches specifically in hatchback segment. After the launch of ‘A Star’, Suzuki launched Ritz in hatchback segment. Hyundai came up with new i20 but having same engine of i10. Honda followed with his Honda Jazz. Fiat jumps with his Punto and now Hyundai races ahead with his improved and powerful version of i20. Seriously, mid level customer is spoilt for choices in the market and having tough time to decide on the ‘lovely’ one.

I thought to get rid of 5 Year old Santro and is looking for mid range Hatchback if not Sedan. I eagerly waited for Honda Jazz but Jazz proved to be horribly costly compare to the features and size, it offers. Suzuki Ritz is looking good for its attractive price and features but not able to digest Suzuki’s brand name in poor quality and poor safety. Hyundai has added much improved version of i20 in same category. I took test drive of Ritz and has seen Jazz closely. Planning to test drive Jazz and i20. Let me compare i20, Jazz and Ritz for their technical specifications, features and price. Not to mention that there are other cars i.e. Fiat Punto (and Palio), Skoda Fabia, Hyundai Getz in the same league but I am planning to take them out of this comparison.

Just go to the sites of i20, Jazz and Ritz and you will realize that these three models (Ritz ZXi, i20 Astra and Jazz Base) are having more or less same features and safety norms (on book of course).

Engine

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Zxi BS IV

Hyundai i20 Asta

Honda Jazz Base

Engine Type/Model   DOHC SOHC i-VTEC
Displacement (cc) 1197 1197 1198
Power (PS@rpm) 85@6000 80@5200 90@6200
Torque (Nm@rpm) 113@4500 112@4000 110@4800

Summary = Honda Jazz is the car to own but not affordable at this price. Suzuki Ritz is the best car for its feature and price. Hyundai i20 is also great in features and safety norms as Ritz and Jazz but having price range just in between Ritz and Jazz.

Winnner – Suzuki Ritz Zxi (1.2 Ltr Petrol) is the clear winner in comparison to 1.2 Ltr Hyundai i20 Astra and 1.2 Ltr Honda Jazz.

I wish to agree with your conclusion but I am afraid, I Can’t. My reason is 80-0 braking for Ritz is 40 meters, where as 80-0 for i20 is 26 meters, even 80-0 for i10 is only 30 meters. Honda and i20 did not earn 5 Star European safety rating – just for kidding. I am getting quote for i10 Asta (1.2 L) on the road including discounts, nearly same price as Ritz Vxi in NCR. What will you suggest to buy?

  2. The all new Honda Jazz model will be launched in India by the second week of the June this year. Fully loaded and one of the most stylish model in this range the Honda Jazz model is becoming popular even before its launch in India. With effective braking system and safety features the Honda Jazz model providing a tough fight to its opponents.
What makes the Jazz model better then other models in this range like Maruti Ritz and Hyundai i20 is its new features and style. The Honda Jazz model is not new for the world market because it was launched few years back in some other countries. Over all it s a well designed model which is certainly of the level of Honda City in performance.

Dear Romesh, i10 or i20 Astra is having much less features than Magna. Pls visit the site of i10/i20 Hyundai. To compare apple with apples, I compared Ritx VXI with i20 Magna and Honda Jazz. All three cars are having same features, safety parameters (atleast on the book). My suggestion is to go for Ritx VXI than i10 Astra. i10 is anyday smaller and bit cramped car than Ritx.
